We began breeding and exhibiting Pomeranians in 2000 after extensive research
into the breed. The Poms produced at Achilles are comprised of a combination of the Great Elms and Chriscendo bloodlines,
and we believe they represent the best traits that these lines have to offer.
Our breeding philosophies include keeping both sides of our
pedigrees balanced in quality, so that the offspring produced can continue to pass down their merits to subsequent generations.
We feel true consistency can only be achieved by holding each Pom in our breed program, whether they be male or female,
to the same standards of excellence in regard to type, structure, outline, movement, temperament, coat, size, and overall
health.
We are very proud with our limited breeding of one to
three litters per year, and in a kennel that always remains under ten Poms in total, to have been able to breeder-owner
handle multiple group placers and champions, which include both males and females who have garnered Best Of Breed
wins from the classes, over top ranked male specials.
Our accomplishments in the show ring include being named among
the APC’s top exhibitors for 2009. We are equally as proud in recent years to have co-owned and handled a Thai daughter
named Daisy to her ranking as the #4 bitch in the nation. We were also awarded the title of Virginia’s top breeder
and exhibitor with Paris receiving top dam honors, and her daughter Frenchie being the #1 Pom bitch. Another
achievement we take great pride in is the distinction of our first ROM producer in Chad, who continues to be listed among
the top sires in the nation.
In addition to our conformation successes, the Achilles Pomeranians
participate in obedience and agility competitions and we are proud to have produced multiple title holders in these disciplines
as well.
Our current Poms, we believe, represent the ideals we
strive for and we will continue our steadfast pursuit of improving our breed program year after year. With hopes that our
future successes will contribute to a bright future for the breed as a whole.
